A Seamless Video Service using Web-cached Multicast in WLAN

This paper presents a seamless video service using web-cached multicast in WLAN. This system is composed of switching/multicast agent(SMA) and some access points(AP) with cache memory in wireless network. The proposed web-cached multicast technique for live-video can reduce the service delay, shortage of deficient network resources and the load of video server. Also, this system uses identification number(ID#) of AP (AP_#) as IP header for providing a smooth handover. The video caching is accomplished on AP when mobile nodes(MN) receive video clips from video server through AP connected to MNs. The SMA manages caching video clips, issuing multicast group address(MGA) and the relationship between AP and MNs. The proposed system can provide a seamless video service using the compound technology in WLAN.
